The short version

Sam is your own AI, and it runs on your own devices. Your photos, health data, messages, questions and everything in your worlds stay on your Mac and iPhone. We don’t sell or share anyone’s data, and there are no ads.

What stays on your devices

• Apple Health. Sam for iPhone reads only the kinds of health data you allow, to build your Body Lab. It keeps a day-by-day summary on your iPhone and, if you link your own Mac, sends it to Sam on that Mac — nowhere else. Sam never writes to Apple Health and never uses health data for advertising or shares it with anyone.
• Photos, calendars, contacts and files you connect on your Mac are read on your Mac and stay there.
• Your questions and conversations go from your Mac to the AI account you connect yourself (your own Claude or ChatGPT), under that provider’s terms. Sam for iPhone asks Claude through your own Mac.

What we receive

• Invitations. When someone invites you, the invitation service briefly holds what they send (your first name, a note, and — if they made you one — your avatar), until you open it. Opening it erases the avatar copy.
• Your username. Everyone who uses Sam gets a username, made from the first name you give Sam (for example @alex), so the people who make Sam can tell users apart. We keep a member record: that first name, the username, how you came to Sam (an invitation and who sent it, a download, or the iPhone app), when you joined and how many invitations you have left.
• Usage counts. Sam sends counts of which features were used each day (for example “added a world: 1”), how many minutes Sam was open and in use, the platform and the app version — linked to your username, so we can see how each person uses Sam and make it better. Before you have a username they’re linked to an anonymous install id, and that install’s counts join your username once you choose one. Never the content of anything: not your photos, words, questions or what’s in your worlds. Turn usage counts off in Settings on your Mac (or on Sam’s first screen) and in Settings on your iPhone: you keep your username, and no counts are sent.
• This website counts visits to invitation pages and clicks on the download button, with an anonymous id kept in your browser.

Your choices

Turn off usage counts at any time — you keep your username, and nothing more is counted. Disconnect Apple Health in the iPhone’s Settings → Health → Data Access. Delete Sam and its data from your devices whenever you like. To have your member record deleted, write to us and we’ll erase it.

Children

Sam is not meant for children under 16.
